Blast from the Past

When 10,000 Birds puts out the call for posts for the latest (newly revived) I and the Bird, I respond.  They are looking for posts with Double-Crested Cormorants.  Not to toot my own horn, but I took an amazing series of photos of a Cormorant waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2007.

Wanna see:

Double-crested Cormorant
Here's the cormorant in a small pond near my mother-in-law's house.

I walked around to the other side of the bird and got just too close and it launched . . .
Double-crested Cormorant
This shot just blows me away whenever I see it.
Double-crested Cormorant
It was a brief take-off.

And it's attitude is all . . . what, I meant to do this.
I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past.  Cormorants are pretty cool birds.

    1. Thank you! I'm definitely of the "it's better to be lucky than good" camp of bird photography! It's all about being in the right place, at the right time, with a camera in your hand.

  2. They are amazing photos. I find cormorants an interesting bird and put no stock in some of my neighbors claim that they deplete the fish population in some of our walleye lakes.

    1. Thank you. I don't really know much about their effects on fish. I would imagine though that the birds aren't likely to overpopulate a lake and eat the fish into too low numbers. That really sounds more like a human job. Just saying'.
